Impersonation/Denigration

This is when a bully impersonates the victim online, creating a false profile or pretending to be the victim saying embarrassing, mean things in order to create a bad reputation for them online. Denigration is a term used to describe cyber bullies when they sending, posting cruel rumors, gossip and untrue statements about the victim to intentionally damage their reputation or friendships. For us, these 2 types have a big relationship when it comes to cyber bullying.

Friendship Denigration

Friendship denigration is when bullies spread rumors and untrue statement that tend to harm your reputation and relationships , and it would be very hard to get your reputation/relationship back as usual if this occurs because they would think that you are serious.

Rumor/Gossip Denigration/Impersonation

Rumor/gossip denigration/impersonation is when bullies pretend to be you and spread rumors about you that are untrue around the internet, they can also gossip about you behind your back on the internet. They might not always pretend to be you, but their purpose are the same most of the time. This can ruin your reputation and such.

Friendship Impersonation

Friendship impersonation includes 2 most common scenarios: when someone impersonates you to ruin your relationship with someone, or make friends with someone inappropriate or others. Most of the time it's for a bad reason, and may influence your life forever.

Denigration/Impersonation

This is the most common way of impersonating/denigrating someone, and in these scenarios is when the bully actually doesn't want to cause much harm but yet they do. Most of the times they want be social accepted (gaining coolness), a good reputation, peer pressure, lack of awareness, low self-esteem and more.
